Server Application Error Iis 5.1 Classic Asp
This account is a "least privileged" account which means it's pretty restricted in the things it can do on your system. It seems this is a problem of MSDTC and SQL Server. For additional information specific to this message please visit the Microsoft Online Support site located at: http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp. In all other scenario's, IIS is using the account you determined in the previous step. No events in the eventlog, no other information anywhere that I can find. I gave IUSR_computername full permissions to the wwwroot directory: no luck. Both were disabled and the option to start them was grayed out so I set them to start automatically and rebooted. Though I'm not sure why .Net should enter the picture.
To make things a bit more confusing, on Windows Server 2003, an account called "Network Service" is used by default instead of the ASPNET account. That last part got me really excited. In IE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings I have tried checking and unchecking the Automatically detect settings. I also tried the second search box for IIS, W3SVC, event ID 36 and several others but each time I got no results.

Usually, this will be the IUSR_MachineName account, but check out step 4 of the instructions for classic ASP to find out whether that is true or not in your situation.
