Close Box Join Tek-Tips Today! I tried to enable "Write Through" to no avail so I copied all the files off the x15 and initialized it using the Drive Set Up Utility 1.9.2. I would guess that there is some power issue. SCSI drives had to be numbered, and though I remember that they didn't necessarily have to be in order on the chain it did seem to help if they were.
There is no critical data on it : all safe and backed up, but it would be good to have the drive going. Have checked connections, power on sequence and termination (2) as it is the only device connected. I doubt that it is repairable, too old. It came up every time after that.

Just leave your monitor plugged into the main monitor port, but unplug everything from the PCI graphics cards. I just have too much to do right now and I need this thing running well. No termination often causes a Mac to hang during startup. And yeah, check the SCSI addresses and termination, but based on the sound effects, I'll be surprised if that's the problem. Wrap it in a hot pad on medium for about 20 minutes, then bitch slap it a couple of times while letting it cool back down to room temp.
Norton doesn't even know it's there and neither does Disk Warrior. My memory is that the PowerTower Pro was running some version of Mac 0S 8. Let this also be a warning to those who have old data on IDE drives - you're next. CDRW Won't Mount - Extension Problem???
